On 5 January 2021, Executive Decree no. 3/21 (hereinafter "ED 3/21") was published in the Official Gazette, which determines a new extension of the validity of tourism, short term or border visas, as well as other visas related to the stay of foreign citizens in Angola, due to the persistence of uncertainties about the end of the pandemic caused by COVID-19.
Thus, under this new DE 3/21 the following is determined:
• Tourist, short-stay or border visas which expire on 28 February 2020 shall be deemed to have been extended until 28 February 2021, in cases where departure from the national territory was necessarily prevented by the closure of border posts, being that the same rule applies to foreign citizens who are covered by visa exemption agreements;
• The documents related to the stay of foreign citizens in national territory, among which, residence permit, refugee card, investor visa, work visa, temporary stay visa and study visa, expired from 28 February 2020, are considered valid until 28 February 2021, being that this measure applies only to foreign citizens absent from national territory.
The present ED 3/21 revokes the previous Executive Decree no. 233/20, of 4 September 2020 and enters into force on 5 January 2021.
